Installing AnkiDroid
I cannot find AnkiDroid on Android Market. Is the app restricted in some way?
AnkiDroid is not restricted in any way, so it should be available in any country, for any device. If it not appears on Android Market, it could be a temporal problem but you still can download the app from the official project page. See installing AnkiDroid from the official project page.
When I try to install an .apk of AnkiDroid I get a "Re-installation failed due to different application signatures." message and the installation is not succesful. How could I solve this?
In order, to install the app you should uninstall your current AnkiDroid installation first.
Media
How can I use my media on AnkiDroid?
AnkiDroid does not allow to add media to cards yet, so the only way to have media on it is using a deck created with Anki Desktop. When you attach some kind of media to a card on Anki Desktop, the program creates a folder called like the deck you are adding the card to, followed by ".media" (for example, for the deck "japanese.anki" it would create a folder called "japanese.media"), where it stores the media. Copy this media folder to the device, in the same folder your deck is stored, and everything should work.
But still AnkiDroid does not show my images!
Android platform has built-in support for the next image formats: JPEG (.jpg), GIF (.gif), PNG (.png) and BMP (.bmp). The format of your image file has to be one of these or be in the list of specific supported formats for your device. See Android Core Media Formats.
But still AnkiDroid does not play my audio!
Android platform has built-in support for the next audio formats: 3GPP (.3gp), MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4a), 3GPP (.3gp), MP3 (.mp3), Type 0 and 1 (.mid, .xmf, .mxmf), RTTTL/RTX (.rtttl, .rtx), OTA (.ota), iMelody (.imy), Ogg (.ogg) and WAVE (.wav). The format of your audio file has to be one of these or be in the list of specific supported formats for your device. See Android Core Media Formats.
Displaying special characters from other languages
Instead of the correct character to display, a square is shown. Why is that?
Because, by default, Android does not have complete support of the full Unicode character set so it does not know how to display this character. The part of Unicode that Android supports depends on the specific device and on where that device is distributed. If you would like to add support for some specific language, see adding support for special characters on Android.
